Our tours are aimed at a mature market of travellers (40 years+) and have been designed to offer the creature comforts this age group desires, as well as offering walking options on the more challenging days of the trail, to suit a variety of fitness levels.

Life’s an Adventure provide an ideal combination of 2 nights camping and 2 nights accommodation. On nights 1 and 2 you will enjoy a camping experience with walk-in touring tents, off the ground beds and deluxe camping mattresses, a hot bush shower and hot water bottles if required (no swags for us).

Then when you will appreciate comfortable hotel accommodation the most, we offer the last 2 nights at the historic Glen Helen Homestead which overlooks the magnificent Glen Helen Gorge.

Enjoy the fantastic facilities of this great homestead including a swimming pool and waterhole, a la carte meals in the restaurant featuring wonderful local produce (included in your package), evening entertainment and reserve cycle air conditioning.

Trek the Larapinta Trail with Life’s an Adventure and your overnight bags will be transported for you, leaving you free to walk with just a small day pack. And all transfers will be done in our air conditioned 4WD bus.

The Larapinta Trail Walk offers over 600 species of plants, amazing natural beauty including magnificent gorges, canyons and high ridges, abundant wildlife and a glimpses of the longest continuous cultural history in the world, the Arrente People whom have been in the region for the last 50,000 years.

6 Hours walking - approx 10 kms - Climb 110 metres and descent 110 metres - Grade: Medium
Standley Chasm

We head to Standley Chasm, a must see highlight of the Larapinta.
Ellery Creek Big Hole
Ellery Creek Big Hole
We travel to Ellery Creek big hole for a quick stroll to morning tea, enjoying the surrounds with a cuppa.
Ormiston Gorge
Ormiston Gorge
We then head towards Ormiston Gorge, one of the main highlights of the West MacDonnell Ranges National Park.

Enjoy beautiful and spectacular scenery as you walk up to the high escarpment overlooking the pound.
Day 2

Mount Sonder

Today we walk up the challenging Mount Sonder. For those not up to conquering Mount Sonder, there is an alternative easier walking day.

7 hours walking - approx 12 kms - Total climb 100 m and decent 130 m
Red Mallee Forest
Today we enjoy magnificent Red Mallee Forest, after rains you may be lucky enough to see the wildflowers in bloom.
Finke River
Finke River
We descend over gently undulating terrain when we come to the junction of Ormiston and Davenport creeks which is the start of the famous Finke River.

We head to the Glen Helen Homestead, our accommodation for the night.

After settling in, we take a quick stroll to Glen Helen Gorge to enjoy pre dinner drinks, and a cheese platter overlooking the gorge.

8 hours walking - approximately 15 kms Climb 460 metres and decent 380 metre
Eagles Landing
Today we climb to Eagles Landing and learn about the Aboriginal dreamtime surrounding this place.
Counts Point
Counts Point
We continue to Counts Point, where we experience a wonderful opportunity to see the overall geology of the ranges.
Serpentine Gorge
Serpentine Gorge
After lunch we descend into the plains to end our days walk at Serpentine Gorge chalet.
Glen Helen Homestead

We transfer back to Glen Helen Homestead for the night.
Day 5

6 hours - approx 12kms - Climb 210 metres and decent 210 metre
Ochre Pits
Ochre Pits
Today we hike from the Ochre Pits, which are still used by the traditional land owners today, the Arrente people.
Inarlanga Pass
Inarlanga Pass
We enter into the Inarlanga Gorge with the smoking green fronds of the MacDonnell Ranges and cycadas standing out against glowing red walls.
