Halfway between Perth and Geraldton is the Pinnacles desert. Thousands of limestone pillars reach up towards the sky, remnants of ancient seashells and lime.
Don’t let the name ‘desert’ fool you. The area is rich in wildlife, with grey kangaroos, black cockatoos and emus calling the place home. And to mix it up, make sure you hop on a toboggan for some sand boarding.
The Pinnacles are also an important part of Aboriginal culture and you can have the opportunity to hear the Dreamtime stories from the original custodians of the land.
Single day tours depart from Perth. For a real adventure, hop on a multi-day tour to Broome or Exmouth and see all the beauty of the outback, as well as rivers, gorges and waterfalls.
