Just 25 minutes from Fremantle, Rottnest is a low lying island most famous for its population of cute quokkas, seals and sea lions. It is criss-crossed by 45 kilometres of trails which make up the Wadjemup track and it’s a popular place for diving, fishing and surfing.
The beaches on Rottnest are some of the most beautiful in the world, with 63 to choose from among 20 bays. Or for the young at heart, the Just 4 Fun Aqua Park offers slides, paddle boards and an aqua obstacle course.
Tours take in highlights of Rotto (as the locals call it), such as the lighthouse, Cathedral Rocks, Cape Vlamingh and the Historic Train Ride. You can also get to Rottnest from Hillarys Boat Harbour, just north of Perth.
